I grew up in CA and we used to go camping in Yosemite. One night a raccoon got into a friends tent and stole his bag of Cheetos! (his own fault - you should never have food in your tents there because of the bears!) Anyway - the men went tracking the raccoon but never found it...however they did find Cheeto residue along the creek - raccoons wash their food - so apparently the raccoon didn't get much of the snack as they dissolve easily!
Sorry - I always think of that story when I see raccoons!

Raccoons are such stinkers, aren't they?
