I was walking through some woods when I heard a squirrel chirp above me. I looked up and this guy was glaring at me from a branch about ten feet above my head. So I snapped this picture.

Yellow-Crowned Night Heron

I was out in our woods this evening when this Yellow-Crowned Night Heron flew over and landed in a tree about seventy yards away from me. At first I didn't know what it was because I had never seen one before but I took a few pictures and went home and looked it up in a field guide.

He roosted in our grove for three days and would let me get within fifteen or twenty yards of him without showing any signs of uneasiness.
